Test Strips is the working notebook of the Salamanca project.

A test strip is one image exposed in bands of increasing time, made in the darkroom before the final print to find where the exposure sits. These notes do the same job: they record what was tried, what failed and what held, before anything reaches a wall.

Most of what is here is craft: cameras, light, film, development and print, and how an image model responds to each of them. Some of it is study: photographers read for their principles rather than their surfaces.
